🐝 BREAKTHROUGH IN BREAST CANCER RESEARCH: Honeybee Venom Kills 100% of Aggressive Cancer Cells in 60 Minutes
Incredible research from Australia is turning heads across the medical world. A team led by Dr. Ciara Duffy at the Harry Perkins Institute and The University of Western Australia discovered that honeybee venom — specifically its active compound melittin — killed 100% of aggressive breast cancer cells (triple-negative and HER2-enriched) in under 60 minutes in lab trials.
🔬 How it works:
Melittin rapidly punctures and breaks cancer cell membranes.
It also shuts down signaling pathways like EGFR and HER2, stopping the cancer from growing and spreading.
Most impressively, it targets only cancer cells — leaving normal healthy breast cells largely unaffected.
💡 Even a synthetic version of melittin showed the same effect — opening doors for future treatments without harming bee populations.
⚠️ It’s important to note: This research was conducted in vitro (in lab settings) and is not yet a human treatment. But the findings are a promising leap toward targeted, natural-inspired cancer therapies.
