The student was completing dental training in India and considering a public-university Master of Health Administration in British Columbia. Behind that one academic decision were four major ambitions:
🎓 Canadian education
💼 Relevant professional experience
🍁 Permanent residence
🦷 Eventual dental licensure in Canada
During my research and consultation, one important reality became clear:

𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄

A Canadian Master of Health Administration can create a valuable second professional identity in healthcare leadership, clinic operations, quality improvement, patient access, policy, administration, and service management.
However, an MHA does not replace the Canadian dental-licensing process.
Internationally trained dentists from non-accredited programs must separately pursue the National Dental Examining Board of Canada pathway or an eligible qualifying or degree-completion program.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆

A compulsory dental internship may strengthen:
✓ University applications
✓ Employment opportunities
✓ Professional credibility
✓ Clinical documentation
However, its immigration value may depend on payment, continuity, duties, hours, and supporting evidence.
Similarly, Canadian work completed during full-time study may build references, communication skills, local experience, and employability—but it generally does not satisfy the Canadian Experience Class minimum work-experience requirements.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

Do not choose a degree simply because someone describes it as “PR-friendly.”
Instead, ask:
◆ What does this program genuinely qualify me to do?
◆ Would I still value this career if professional licensure takes several years?
◆ What will the complete financial cost be?
◆ Which assumptions have been confirmed in writing?
◆ Does the program have real standalone career value?
My research presents a 𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥-𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤:
① Build a genuine healthcare-administration career.
② Prepare independently for dental licensure.
③ Verify the exact program’s current PGWP eligibility.
④ Preserve detailed internship, employment, and payment evidence.
⑤ Budget for tuition, living costs, licensing, examinations, and job-search time.
⑥ Treat permanent residence as a future eligibility outcome—not a guaranteed feature of education.
